Plage de l’Aiguille, Théoule-sur-Mer Beach

Visiting Plage de l’Aiguille

The beach at the Plage de l’Aiguille is located on the Pointe de l’Aiguille (see map). This is part of the Parc de l’Aiguille, a nature park that also forms the backdrop of the beach with steep red cliffs. The sandy beach is particularly wide with an interesting rock formation at the end.

The water here is calming with views of the mountains ahead. You will find lots of people floating around and enjoying the soft movement of the water. There are people of every age on this beach enjoying the sun and water. I recommend bringing goggles or a snorkelling mask since the water is clear and there are lots of fish visible. Parts of the beach feel rocky underfoot and I did see some people with water shoes.

Getting There, Access & Facilities

We drove ourselves to Le Trayas on Plage du Vallon de l’Autel where there is a car park. We discovered a coastal walkway that we followed it for about kilometre to the Plage de l’Aiguille, passing the Plage de la Petite Fontaine.

This is called the Promenade de Pradayrol and is the easiest way to access the beaches of Théoule-sur-Mer. There is also free parking along the side of the road.

Another option is to drive past the town on the Boulevard de la Corniche d’Or to the entrance of the Parc de l’Aiguille. There is a path here that leads down to the Plage de l’Aiguille and the Plage de Gardanne.

You can also get there by taking the bus 620 – stopping at Theoule-sur-Mer train station and then ending at Le Trayas on the Plage du Vallon de l’Autel.

This beach has toilets and public showers available to visitors.

Restaurants

There are also many restaurants along the beach if you want to grab lunch. We ate at Restaurant L’Aiguille, located directly behind the beach we were swimming at. We ordered the fish of the day which was lovely and fresh accompanied by another glass of the local  rosé!
