This 5 star hotel is a Georgian country house with a rich history. The eccentric character contradicts the contemporary interior.

Only a 20 minute drive from the city of Durham. Take a trip to Hadrian’s Wall Holy Island or Durham Cathedral which are both nearby.

  • 5 star ratingFabulous lunch and evening meal My wife and I visited the hotel to meet up with family, who were staying at the hotel. We had a lovely lunch, the food was very tasty, and enjoyed some well presented drinks, before going off to visit other family in the area.
We returned later in the evening, and had a wonderful experience in the fine dining restaurant.
All the courses were presented to the highest standard, and tasted wonderful, it was a throughly enjoyable evening it beautiful surroundings.
We will definitely stay at this hotel when we are next in the area to enjoy the spa, and the lovely food and beverages which are available.
Many thanks also to the very friendly staff.

  • 5 star ratingDidn’t want to leave, very relaxing I went to the spa with my mam for her birthday in the summer and loved it. We spent about seven hours there.

    - Water temperature was perfect.
    - Massage was relaxing with an option for chatty or quiet and an option of firmness.
    - Food was tasty (but I really like Asian food which was what was offered)
    - Lots of different facilities
    - Enough beds to cater for all the guests
    - My skin felt amazing after the massage

    Only slightly negative point:
    - restaurant staff could have been a bit more attentive and friendly but there was no real issue

Would highly recommend, especially as a gift package.
