Lovely place, small improvements needed Fabulous spa and treatments - the pool is super and the treatment areas are very relaxing and elegant. This was a real highlight of this hotel. The layout is good, you have a large area you can relax in before the treatments which is near the bar and the hydrotherapy pool and there is another therapeutic relaxation space for after your treatment(s).
The rooms are also good, nicely decorated with comfortable beds, decent hairdryer, tea making facilities etc and everything you need, pretty much. We were given a slightly later check out which we found very considerate as our treatments crossed over the check out time.
The staff throughout are friendly and very helpful, relaxed and welcoming and respond quickly to any issues.
I have given the hotel a 5* rating but I am being a little generous. For what we had, how comfortable and relaxed we were, it was good value but there were a few small issues. We asked to move room because the first one had several broken tiles on the bathroom floor, these need re-laying before a guest cuts their feet. One of the bath robes had makeup on the collar, one pillow also had traces of make up as well. Both were easily swapped but they should have been spotless.
Dinner was a little strange - there is a shortage of skilled staff. They thought they had taken our order and hadn't, waiting staff were approaching tables left and right with dinners they didn't know which tables were waiting for. We were offered a few things that weren't ours. We were served some stale foccacia bread and a not such good value cheese board (it's pricey for what was served). Flowers in the vases were dead or dying. But generally, the food was very good and we did really enjoy the meal overall. Breakfast was a bit of a mixed bag - I don't like streaky bacon and two of the four poached eggs ordered were hard, no milk was served with the tea (to two tables). For the hotel to meet it's appearance and match the spa facilities it provides, the restaurant needs to raise it's game a little.
Generally very good and relaxing and we will definitely be back.Kaelcl10/27/2018
A bit of a treat Very welcoming, lovely place. Very clean. Loved the indoor/outdoor pool! Sauna, steam room, ice baths. Robes, towels and slippers provided. Bathroom toiletries were all from Espa range (in treatment area). Breakfast was good. Only downside was people hogging the loungers. Would still recommend.GeraldineF50911/26/2018
A Sunday stay over in November My friend & I, have been coming to this Spa one every 4-5 months since January 2014. This year we last visited in January so we were really looking forward to our visit 18th/19th November: my friend booked us a full hour massage each as an early Christmas present, she also phoned the week before to ask if we could use a locker from around 2, as we had a journey & wanted to do lunch before the spa; this was agreed much to our pleasing. our room was ready for 3 which was fine, but we were sad that the receptionist would not let us use a locker as previously agreed. Although disappointed we didn’t make a fuss; just had a glass of wine & waited in the bar area. Our room was the usual standard, lovely no issues at all. I was sad in the outdoor pool to discover the bottom jets seating area wasn’t working as this is my favourite. The pool itself was lovely & warm and we enjoyed the other jets. It is nice to see regular staff repeatedly year after year. Our treatments were superb; we had Claire & Jess I think really first class thank you ladies. We had £25 evening meal & we always like to sit in the bare area in our robes to eat then go back to the pool, we were delighted to learn that the day menu is now available til 9pm ( used to be 7pm) and you can mix day & evening menu, this is a big improvement. Our food was delicious & the pudding was literally the best I have ever tasted; it was a white chocolate icecream dish. Georgio i
The waiter was fantastic & I asked him to pass our gratitude to the staff; nice to see he’s there each time we visit, what a great asset he is to them. Breakfast service was very slow, I believe they were a little short staffed however familiar faces greated us & it was to the usual high standard. Checkout as always was busy at 11am ( to be expected) however each time we visit our bill always seems to be a little muddled, no issue though and always sorted, however we did witness this with other guests checking out too, so maybe an area to be improved. We will return in January and hope all of the hydrotherapy pool will be in good order; as always this deal is superb value and we thoroughly enjoy our visits as our girly catchup time. Well done to the lovely staff, only negative was our locker issue this time really & the seat jets.iloveholidays011/21/2018
